I wish people hadn't complained about me painting too many portraits ... If there is one subject that I enjoy more than any other it would have to be portrait and figure work. During my long professional career I have painted thousands portraits of Royals,Political Leaders, celebrated individuals from Nobel Laureates to film stars . Here I give some examples of my digital portrait painting technique. Everybody develops his own technique suitable to his painting style. Each portrait is a new challenge, an enriching experience, a very exciting one.
"Be careful what you set your heart upon - for it will surely be yours." James A. Baldwin . Writer.

Yes, at this time I would like to show you the portrait of James Baldwin, one of my favorite american writer. He was a famed novelist and essayist. I like his face, his expression very much. So , I was very happy when the Editorial commissioned me to do this piece for the Grand Encyclopedia Everest (Spain 2006 ).
For some years he is on track every week. 28 races in 1923! "Der Teufel" according to the Germans, "Red Devil" according to the Americans, "El Hombre Bolido" according to the Spanish, "The Champion" according to the English!

Caetano Veloso has been called the Bob Dylan of Brazil -- a popular musician who has made staggering artistic and intellectual contributions to his country. As Caetano says, "I make my records as a painter would paint his canvas". In fact, he makes every melody he sings sound luminous and newly discovered.
This is a small (1/4 page) portrait illustration created at the beginning of 2006 for The Grand Encyclopedia Everest ( Spain ). Some b/w low resolution photos of Caetano provided by Art Director and photos of my own guitars used for reference.
